Katie (Stranger #82/100), Blackpool

Street Portait

Katie and Adam were heading out to see The Prodigy in Blackpool, perhaps a little “merry” as she put it. Maybe that’s why they tolerated an interruption to their outing.

They’d walked up, skipping along practically, with a tonne of wildly positive energy, which I thought might work with a low beam of hard end of day sunlight zipping between Katie and the background here.

Katie held one reflector below shot, Adam another camera right bouncing fill in from the shade… we then recruited a third, entirely unrelated stranger – the awesome Logan – to work the giant 1.2m gold reflector to bring the main beam of sunlight back in. If you’re ever in Blackpool and need assistance with a reflector, if no one else can help, and if you can find him, I thoroughly recommend Logan. He is dictionary definition magic.

It’s the light from his reflector washing back in to light Katie’s hair. And temporarily blinding her. Sorry about that!

Katie and Adam – thanks so much for stopping and being part of the project! And Logan – thank you too – you are a total rock star. There’s a couple of mistakes on my part, chiefly the bag strap – sorry I didn’t notice! Thanks for over delivering to the point where even my OCD doesn’t notice them anymore!

This is portrait #82 of my 100 Strangers Project – check out the group page and get involved.
